I was poking around on fatwallet and came across this forum post:
LESSON LEARNED - Citi "protects me" with new account number
http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/finance/933519
good that I read it. I remembered I activiated the new card Citi sent to me.
They rolled over your old card balance to your new card but never activate the online access for you. If you don't manually add the card, your balance always show ZERO.
I knew I used the card once and wonder why it always had a zero balance. That answered my question. That's one way they can screw you over. Fxxk that, bxxxh.

one day when kala logged onto her citi account, she saw an error message about the fraud stuffs and her new card is in the mail. She got so upset because she can no longer enjoy the discount she had with the old card number and citi removed the online payment access. she waited and waited and didn't receive her new card. She called the first time, citi just said her card is on the way. Finally she called citi and paid over phone one day late and glad they waived the late fee. But yes, kala agreed with the misleading zero balance, very confusing, inconvenience and misleading. And kala still hasn't received her new card yet with her old card already got cancelled. !@#$%^&&
